The Roeper Difference

The Roeper School founders, George and Annemarie Roeper, introduced summer camps to provide a rewarding and accessible experience for children throughout metro Detroit. Since its establishment in 1947, our summer programs have provided enriching programs that children love and parents trust. The summer program offerings have grown to include the Roeper Summer Stock Theatre and the Roeper Specialty Camps. Summer 2022 marks our 75 th Anniversary offering summer programs that provide a multi-faceted camp experience focusing on fun, personal growth, and embracing diversity.

All of our Roeper Summer Programs are designed to provide an enriching and rewarding experience for every child. Our camps embrace the central characteristics of the Roeper community: diversity; an appreciation for all people; and, respect for everyone's potential.  The Roeper School’s mission, educating and inspiring gifted students to think as individuals and engage as a community with compassion for each other and this world, extends into our camp life. While the school is designed for gifted children, participation in Roeper Summer Programs is open to all children.

Summer camp is an American tradition giving children a place to grow and develop life skills that will last long after summer.  Summer camp encourages teamwork, collaboration and communication through activities that focus on achieving group goals. Attending a camp is a great way for children to gain valuable social skills and learn how to make new friends.  Camp life is part of your child’s total education.

Our well-trained and experienced counselors deliver a program that is rich and varied. Children’s talents, skills and interests are explored and developed in a safe and fun environment. Roeper Summer Experience is dedicated to giving each child a place to feel secure, gain self-confidence and grow. The Roeper Summer Programs, a part of The Roeper School, is a licensed Child Care Center by the State of Michigan.
